I warmly welcome the Additional Chief Secretary of the State Finance Department, MD of Gujarat State Electronics Mission, high officials of the Science and Technology Department, as well as representatives of prestigious industries associated with semiconductor manufacturing, present in this program.

In today’s modern world, only the country that adopts new technology and new policies moves forward. That is why, our Prime Minister has resolved to make India a global destination in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. We all know that in today’s digital and electrical era, semiconductor has emerged as a tool of economic power.

When Gujarat has vowed to be a leader in every field, why lag behind in the semiconductor sector? We are proud to tell you that Gujarat is the first state in the country to bring a special policy in the semiconductor sector. Gujarat had announced the ‘Gujarat Semiconductor Policy 2022-27’ in the year 2022, in which a prestigious company like Micron has also participated in the efforts of the Gujarat government.

We all know that the biggest benefit of the semiconductor industry is for the youth. Also, new opportunities and possibilities for skill development and startups are opening up in this sector and its allied sectors. Keeping all these vast possibilities in mind, Gujarat is moving forward at a fast pace towards preparing human resources in the semiconductor sector.

The ‘India Semiconductor Mission’ was launched in 2021 to make the country self-reliant in the semiconductor sector and for the last three years, India has achieved significant achievements in various investments in the semiconductor sector, with Gujarat leading the way. Under this mission, the Gujarat government is committed to developing all the facilities required for the development of the semiconductor ecosystem and the best example of this is the under-construction “Dholera Semicon Hub” equipped with plug and play facilities.

As Gujarat is emerging as the semiconductor hub of India today as a result of the industry friendly policies of the Gujarat government, this SemiConnect conference will prove to be very important for new research investments in the semiconductor sector in the coming times. I assure you that as a symbol of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, the country’s first semiconductor chip will be manufactured in Gujarat.
